Take One
"His Master's Voice"
Oil on canvas
Francis Barraud
This is the artist's most famous work, which although it was not commissioned became the trademark of The Gramophone Co. in the UK and Europe and the Victor Talking Machine Co. (later RCA) in America. The original work, completed in 1898 showed the artist's late dog, Nipper reacting to an Edison cylinder phonograph, but the artist later altered the painting at the request of its buyer, to show their Berliner disc phonograph model.
