"We Were Always There..."

What I Like About This: Here is an unambiguously loving and affectionate vintage couple.  Both are sailors and their loving embrace and blissful expressions reveal the truth of their forbidden relationship. Here they are knowingly posing for a photo that could mean ruin and disgrace in the wrong hands. And yet, they appear comfortable and at ease allowing this moment in their love affair to be recorded by some approving friend or perhaps even another loving couple behind the camera... As was true even in my time in the Navy, it is was not uncommon for gay couples serving together to socialize and spend time in the company of other gay couples in spaces like the probably secluded cabin we see here.  In the company of those who shared our secrets, we felt free to be ourselves and could let show that which made us both most happy and afraid.
