What I Like About This: The composition of this work is unusual. The setting is unclear, it's almost as if the model is emerging from a stone wall. When I look at this painting it evokes thoughts of "coming-out..." a naked rebirth into a new life and freedom from an imprisonment in the stone façade of lies and fears that rule lives lived in secret. I also have to say, I enjoy noting that the subject appears to be a man who is a person of color, and so for me, I can imagine that we share other experiences of this life as well.
