"The Imitation Of Life..."

What I Like About This: This scene with Max Hubacher and Aaron Altaras in the 2018 film, "Mario" illustrates something that many gay men (especially from my generation) struggle with... The ability to forgive and repair relationships is especially difficult for same gender loving people.  I think this is perhaps because for much of our contemporary history, society has not valued our relationships (and therefore, subconsciously, Why should we?). In-fact, for most of the 20th century same-sex relationships were criminalized. And so when strife arose, since our relationships were already secretive and because we had no societal bonds, no marriages and no recognitions to remind us of the importance of our relationships, it has been far too easy for us to just walk away and move on to the next transient love affair.  Thankfully, that is changing now that we can be who we are and love who we love and declare it openly.
