"Dawn of the Day" 1965 (Detail)
Oil on canvas
Petar Meseldzija
What I Like About This: The subject and the execution is very reminiscent of (and perhaps inspired) the later works of Steve Huston's working man series. Here we have a well executed study of the male physique in wonderful detail from the clearly defined musculature of a physical laborer to the beginnings of his middle aged paunch, with an impressive execution of the most difficult of features - the subjects hands both right and left.
