Steve Huston

What I Like About This: Here is one of many works by famous artist, Steve Huston who has taught art in Hollywood animation studios for decades while also producing a plethora of fine art pieces throughout his long career. This is one of many paintings of one of his favorite subjects - the working man.  In this work we witness his subject straining against a tether with every muscle tensed and rippling under his skin. We are led to wonder, what is he pulling?  Is he a longshoreman, guiding a heavy load to its resting place? The intricate detail down to even the patch on his jeans is an interesting and intriguing counterpoint to the obscurity of the rest of the scene... taken together, you can almost hear the moan as his subject braces and hauls the unknown to our imagination.
