What I Like About This: I agree, instead of trying to pretend that it never happened, we need to acknowledge that the wealth of this nation was built upon the theft of a people from their homeland, the theft of their labor and the theft of their lives and humanity which persists to this day. I am convinced that the most racist white people are merely afraid that the truth of this might be realized by black people, and with that comes a real fear that reparations are due and that all the things we claim to believe in, truth, justice and "the American way" are lies until we do speak the truth about our own ugly history.
Education in USA isn't getting better and surely not in teaching REAL history. In Canada we didn't have the same «issues» over racial differences but we had our shortcomings over the native people and not that much for black people. We are trying to recitify the REAL history of our country to put in phase what the natives were really doing in Canada. They were here way before us and they were in a way more «civilized» than the Europeans coming in.
