"Male Nude"
Acrylic on canvas
Kevin Kane
What I Like About This: Here is bold and also simplistic study of the male nude which has appeal on many levels. Painted in a semi-impressionistically realist style this work is both precise as in the detailing of the subject's hands and vague in concealing the subject's ethnicity, mood and personality. The duality of the artist's partial revelations and hidden qualities lends a great deal of interest to the painting. The use of color and light together with a background bereft of any clues to to the context of the scene adds intrigue to an already interesting work of figurative art.
