What I Like About This: Here are a trio of U.S. Army regulars sometime in the 1950. But what I actually see in this photograph is a couple and at least two knowing friends. The two fellows on the right are happily posing cheek-to-cheek and their smiles and affectionate stance of leaning inwards to one another speaks the body language of love. When I say I see, "two knowing friends" I refer to the fellow on the left, who is happy to be part of this scene, and also to whomever took this photograph. I easily imagine that the photographer could have been the partner of the third chap and perhaps we have a moment in time when these two couples paused to record a happy excursion together. Whether or not I'm even remotely correct about what I see and infer about this photograph matters not, because nonetheless, we know that "we were always there.
