What I Like About This: The captions around the border of this vintage photograph reveal this to be a candid scene of two frat brothers who are more than merely chums. This image captures the intimacy and affection they felt for each other in a beautiful moment from a time now long ago. Moreover, the captions suggest to us that the friend who took this photograph understood their love for what it was, acknowledging that "we were always there."

What I Like About This: Here is a lovely candid snapshot mounted in an album, circa 1930. What I like most about it is the caption, "So in Love!" For me this caption takes away any ambiguity about who and what they were to each other. Even without the caption, their loving embrace and the telltale looks of one happy, one perhaps worried tells their story.  From the same album comes the photograph below of the smiling chap likely posing for his partner above. Together these photographs leave no doubt that "we were always there."
