"The Summer Garden..."

Delphiniums and roses are blooming right now.
The peonies were beautiful last week, but they're done now.

The hydrangeas are next and the summer annuals are sprinting too.

It's been so dry lately, no rain for over 30 days
All the neighborhood birds visit our fountain, including this big crow who apparently approves of the garden.

He's got a mate (above) who visits as well. I suspect that they have fledglings somewhere close by, because they take turns coming for water. Crows are very intelligent birds and they recognize and remember human faces.

Husband doesn't understand it, but the male has started bringing us gifts in exchange for the water... At first, Husband was all freaked out when he saw him on successive days come back to the fountain after drinking his fill and drop large pieces of stale bread and pizza crust he's scavenged from local trash cans. I told Ed we should feel honored, he's decided we're their friends.
