Jon Cryer, Donald Faison and Abigail Spencer star in this sitcom telling the story of an unconventional family navigating life after a happy divorce.
Now I'll admit up front, that I haven't watched a single episode of this new sitcom. I only know of its existence from catching just a glimpse of it on my way to a bath when I turned on the telly for our kitty, Milo. I almost never watch actual broadcast television anymore. I always go straight to streaming where I can watch what I want on my own schedule. But I thought I'll just turn on channel 4 for Milo until I come back from my shower. Then I got a glimpse of Jon Cryer in a scene with Donald Faison and I thought, hmmm, this looks interesting! I recall that I wrote some years ago that I definitely had a screen crush on Jon Cryer. Although in real life, he's hetero, he just always gave off a very loveable gay vibe in my opinion.
And of course, who including me didn't love Donald Faison as "Turk" opposite his best friend Zack Braff in"Scrubs." And here, Faison in all his dad-bod glory is just as loveable as ever. So I made a mental note to at some point check this show out. It has an appealing premise, Jim (Cryer) and Julia (Spencer), after an amicable divorce, continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay their with them. Their unusual arrangement gets complicated when Trey (Faison), enters the picture and wins Julia's heart. Surprisingly, this sitcom is based on a true story.
So, no I haven't watched it yet, but I'm guessing big data's profiling is spot-on in the case... Yesterday I got an email from the Peacock streaming service promoting, you guessed it, "Extended Family!" Well, all I can say is, "They are good!" "Big Data" knows me better than myself at times and eerily seems to be able to "read my mind" on a lot of things. I'm guessing they noted that I liked "Two and a Half Men" and then some bot crawling these blog pages noted my "Cryer-crush" and here we are. I'll stream it soon and see if I enjoy it. If for no other reason, I'll probably enjoy Jon's performance. I have to admit, it seems Jon is aging well. He looks good sporting a bald head and the salt and pepper beard is definitely a plus. I myself have actually grown a salt and pepper beard, and I like the way it's changed my looks, although in my case, there's a lot more salt than pepper.
