What I Like About This: It's a timeless painting... The young man could be on his way to work today and yet this was painted about 90 years ago, sometime in the 1930s. Although the model looks decidedly British, he probably wasn't since Stoddard was an American artist working in Pennsylvania. Realizing the provenance of the piece makes this scene all the more remarkable and interesting. It also struck my fancy since it's back to work today after the holidays for me.
