Yes, I know Betty White passed away last week as well, and she's receiving the acclaim she deserved for a career of legendary accomplishments, but this man who was just as accomplished did as much to actually change my life, and the lives of men like my father, my uncles and my brothers as did Martin Luther King. He almost single-handedly destroyed entrenched racist stereotypes and with grace and aplomb he presented to the world a new understanding of what it meant to be a black man. And, he did so by rising to the very pinnacle of America's gift to the world, the cinema. His was a life well lived and deserving of such praise from around the world, now and for all the ages.
Thank you Mr. Portier!
Scenes from but one of many of my favorites by the late great thespian...
