"The Warren Cup"
The Warren Cup is an ancient Greco-Roman silver drinking cup that depicts two images of male same-sex acts in relief. It was created in the first century AD and was used at Roman dinner parties. The cup is made of silver with a little copper, and small traces of gold and lead. The scenes on either side show a pair of male lovers in low relief. One side shows two teenage boys making love, while the other shows a young man lowering himself onto the lap of his elder, bearded lover.
The British Museum purchased the Warren Cup for £1.8 million ($2.3 million) in 1999, which was the most expensive single purchase by the museum at that time. The cup is now one of the most prized jewels in the British Museum in London, UK.
