What I Like About This: Here is a lovely vintage couple circa 1900 in a very intimate and affectionate pose. Note the placement of their hands upon each other's knees. The seated chap's other hand is likely about his partner's waist. The standing chap has his arm and hand draped affectionately across his beloved's shoulders. This pose featuring their intertwined legs reveals their intimate relationship. This is a studio photograph and so everything about it was a conscious choice of this brave couple, including their revealing outfits. They're wearing men's swimwear of the era and I believe it's no accident that the mustachioed partner's suit is unbuttoned and open revealing the center of his breast (suggesting his open heart?) This is perhaps one of the most unmistakably revealing photos from this era... when I look at this, I see love and gay romance. I find it impossible to believe that these two men are not lovers. Perhaps I'm imagining all that I see here, but I don't think so... I believe they were recording for posterity their unmistakable love for each other and in so doing, they prove what we've always known... "We Were Always There..."
