"This Made Me Smile..."

Dang... I feel old today
I remember this like it was yesterday, Madge the manicurist in 1975
It would be at least another 5 or 6 years before our family
switched to liquid dish soap

What did we use before that...?

Back in the day, you used the same soap at the sink that you used in the wash...

"DUZ is for Dishes" was this brand's tagline because every box contained a "premium" and one of the most collectible of these were the "golden wheat" plates. If you wanted the dinner plates though, you had to by the giant size boxes!

When I was growing up, our family ate off Duz plates and drank from Duz glasses and used Duz flatware as our everyday table settings. I've still got several pieces of Duz flatware in my kitchen drawer today.

When using Duz and other powdered detergents to do dishes finally fell out of vogue, for a year or two in the late 1970s we switched to Tide... But even our family finally gave in around 1980 when the first bottle of Palmolive arrived in our kitchen.
