DeSantis’ Cartoon Villainy Gives Disney’s Lawsuit a Clear Path to Victory

The governor’s authoritarian style means he’s always admitted anti-gay revenge was the goal.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis decided to go after Disney last spring for opposing his “Don’t Say Gay” law, he was making it an example. He chose a powerful, high profile target that had disagreed with his policy preferences, and he punished that company for crossing him. In doing so, he sent a clear warning to other companies: Disagree and I will come knocking.

Why should we care...? 

Trump is crazy and doesn't really believe or care about the issues he uses to fire up his base, he's all about Trump and keeping his coffers filled by the naive. His own megalomania will eventually be the undoing of him. But DeSantis is on a whole nother level of crazy... He's also smart and shrewd, if somewhat of a ham-handed political operator. He's a modern American Hitler or Mussolini in my opinion. And the scariest fact about all of this is that Disney's taking him on is probably our best chance to be saved from an America that looks like Florida - often racist, homophobic, misogynistic, beset by disasters (both natural & manmade) and in the pocket of the climate denialist 1 percenters.
