"Reflections On Married Life..."

How quickly they grow!

June and July are months filled with birthday celebrations at our home.  Last week, we celebrated our son D'mitris' 15th birthday.  It seems like just the other day that our children entered our lives, our home and our hearts.  Dustin was just 9 and Meechie (D'mitris) was only 13.  But in the short space of nearly two years, they've both grown to bring great joy to our home.

Meechie's birthday was a dual celebration as in addition we were celebrating the happy news that his brother Dustin was being double promoted to the 5th grade this year.  I worked with Dustin almost everyday to develop his competencies in the 4th grade Common Core subjects and the school and his test scores agree that he achieved his goals of being ready to skip the 4th grade.  I devoted the same effort to his brother Meechie last year and he was also double promoted last fall to the 8th grade. 

They're now both very excited about the coming school year... Meechie starts high school and now Dustin will get to join him in the new middle school/high school building that their academy has been building for the last year now.  In addition to the boys excitement, I'm also looking forward to the new school year, as I've been asked to join the school's board of directors.

At fifteen, he's got more mustache than I had at 20... 

I love his expression here, he thought this little car was his gift...

Then we let him out of his misery... when he looked under the bottom of the gift box, he found his real gift, enrollment in the AAA driver's training course which he starts today.
