"The Ironic Truth About Hate..."

Gross. Disgusting. Weird. Watching NFL Players Kiss Wives, Girlfriends

My problem with straight athletes kissing their girlfriends.
I can't turn on an NFL game or the draft or look at NFL photos without seeing some player kiss his wife and girlfriend. I don't need to see that shit. #disgusting #abomination.
Why can't I just watch a game and not have ESPN or anyone else show some guy making out with his babe? It was like ESPN turned into a porn channel for a few minutes. Very uncomfortable to watch.
Don't believe me? Check these out*:

*******

I was not surprised by all hateful and negative comments about Michael Sam and his boyfriend Vito Cammisano sharing joy inspired kisses upon learning that he'd been drafted by the NFL's St. Louis Rams.  I thought it was one of the most beautiful and spontaneous moments of joy and happiness I'd ever seen, it brought tears to my eyes...

For my entire life, I've witnessed heterosexual public displays of affection in sports and on the streets while realizing that in the world I grew up in,  I dare not ever attempt to openly show that same kind of affection for someone I love who happens to be of the same gender.

It will take time for heterosexual people to realize that we are just as human as them and that our love and happiness is expressed in just the same ways.  That "our" public displays of affection are shocking to them should not be surprising to us.  But it's a new day of freedom for same gender loving people and we want the same right to love openly that they've always taken for granted.

I'll never again consciously seek to maintain an "acceptable" distance between me and my husband when we're walking on the street.  And I'm going to stop looking around to see who may be watching when he gives me a kiss at the door before I leave for work.  Love is love, and if anyone doesn't like it, then don't watch.
