Harry Daley joined the London Metropolitan Police in 1925 and was the first openly Gay person to serve. Besides being a policeman, he dated E.M. Forster and partied with the Bloomsbury Group. His portrait was painted by Duncan Grant. His memoirs were published in 1987, 16 years after his death in 1971.
