Now I'm about to get real about this, so if you're sensitive to discussions of race and history, you might want to scroll on by.

This is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less...  

The reason white people are so afraid of letting the truth be known of what was done to black people during and after slavery is that their children would be afraid and ashamed. And more importantly, their children would understand the debt owed to the descendants of the enslaved who built the wealth of this nation which is still in enjoyed by the white middle and upper classes and who to this day suffer from the effects of slavery.

So, now you know!
