"In Memoriam..."


Today is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

In the photo above taken Sunday, December 7th, 1941, U.S. Navy destroyer USS Shaw explodes after being hit by bombs during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. A few centenarian survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor are expected to gather at the scene of the Japanese bombing today to remember the more than 2,400 who perished 82 years ago marking America's entrance into WWII..


USS Arizona Memorial

The USS Arizona Memorial honors the 1,177 crewmen who died aboard the ship during the attack. The memorial rest on and above the hull of the sunken battleship which is submerged just below the water level and is the tomb for more than 900 sailors who remain within.
