What I Like About This: The worried but determined look on the subject's face is thoroughly thought provoking and one can easily contemplate a range of concerns he might be entertaining. I like to sometimes view art in contemporary terms and from the perspective of today... In that vain, I can imagine this work depicting a young gay man contemplating the latest assaults on our freedom to be who we are... Perhaps he's thinking about the Florida "Don't Say Gay" law or the myriad others just like it under consideration in state legislatures across the country. If he were a contemporary young gay man, maybe he'd be as worried, angry and upset as I am that we still can't live and let live in 2023.
