I often reflect on the secret dreams that I once held in my heart at this time of year that have now become my truth. Edward and I are together and raising and enjoying our children, a thing that once I could only imagine in my wildest dreams. Our boys are now 17 and 13 years old and are two fine young men.
Dustin started piano lessons this year and is rapidly progressing in skill and proficiency. D'Mitris (we call him, "Meechie") is in his junior year of high school and he's convinced that the girl he's been dating for the last two years now is "the one." He's busy exploring career options and college choices.
My son Marvin is busy with his career and family in Utah. I was excited for him as he and his wife bought their first home. His three children sounded so happy when I called to wish them well on move in day. We are all anxiously hoping to visit with them soon. His youngest, my grandson Titus turned 3 years old just before Christmas and this Grandpa can hardly wait to see him and his big sisters again.
Edward is mostly retired due to health challenges, but I am still going strong. Although I haven't updated my blogger profile, I left death care some years ago for a successful career in home improvement sales, but I will soon be two years into my latest career in retail marketing management. It seems that I will always be changing jobs as I grow bored easily and I've been fortunate to have many talents.
Over the last twenty-five years or so I've spent my free time restoring our old house... This summer, I concluded I must have done a good job, when the president of the neighborhood association stopped by to ask if the likeness of our home could be used on a badge and logo for the association.
The boys have been excited this year to see that I've finally gotten down to the basement restorations and my Christmas present for the family this year was the completion of the Rumpus room. It's a great space, carpeted, and fully furnished, with a fireplace and the biggest TV I could fit on the wall. Once I'm done with the other rooms down there I'll post some photos of my handiwork.
Finally, here are a few photos of our holiday decor this year...
