"A True Love Story..."

In the summer of 2002 I met Mark at a bar in Buffalo, NY and we decided to go on a date. When I told my friend Harry about Mark he said, “OH NO, you don’t want to get together with him! He has a ‘shit bag’ ” (meaning a colostomy bag Mark has had since he was 30 due to a disease that almost killed him). It didn’t matter to me in the least and I kept the date. Around the same time my sister had just died of cancer, I was living with my parents; I had no job and no car. Most gay men would run the other way than deal with the issues I endured at the time. Mark was different. He saw past all my issues and loved me not for the high-paying job I had, or the fancy car I drove but for person I was on the inside. Mark is the most caring and loving person I know. 15 years later, Harry is still single while Mark and I are celebrating 15 years! Happy Anniversary to the man I will love forever…shit bag and all!
