Sir John Vincent Hurt, CBE
22 January 1940 – 25 January 2017
I loved him in Aliens and many other performances, but my favorite was in his 1982 film "Partners" alongside Ryan O'Neal. I was 18 that year and it was this film and John Hurt's compassionate and yet hilarious portrayal of a closeted gay man forced to come out that gave me the first inklings of belief that maybe you could be gay and happy too.
Thanks for the memories, Sir John
