When you have to come up with an excuse for when you’ve missed class or even a final, it’s pretty obvious that most of the TAs or the professors will figure out you’re lying.

But when the reality is this adorable, how can you be mad?

Here it is:

Student misses final. Emails me.

He says he forgot to plug in his phone and so his alarm didn’t go off. My heartstrings remain untugged, though he’s always been a good student so I don’t think he’s lying. I feel bad he missed the final, and decide to let him make it up with a large reduction.

Another student misses the final.

This one had no excuse, just that he slept in. Didn’t blame his alarm or anything. He’s a fun guy but not a great student. I definitely don’t feel the need to bend over backwards for him. He and the first student always pal around but the first guy always gets his work done, unlike the second one.

I start to put two and two together…

I realize the two students in question had been spending a lot of time together. Totally bros. It’s definitely just a bromance. Right?

When I see them in section the next day.

How weird they’re both wearing turtlenecks when it’s not that cold outside- OMG HICKIES. HICKIES FOR DAYS.

IS THIS REAL LIFE

They were inseparable during class. Not obnoxiously so; they didn’t distract any other students, but they were definitely always focused on each other and not on my lecture. So yeah now I guess I know why they slept in!

They leave class holding hands.

So yeah they definitely hooked up and are now dating. This had been a slow progression all quarter. They met in my class. Even though I did nothing, I take some credit for being a wingman.

Gave them the make-up exam. They went on a breakfast date after.

They tried to hold hands while skateboarding side by side. It failed and was adorable as fuck. I don’t even mind giving the make-up exam for unexcused absences, this is better than a romcom
