"Complete devastation" in the Philippines.

Dear Friend,
There is much grief today all across the Philippines. Super typhoon Haiyan has wrecked entire cities. Buildings lie in ruins. Bodies litter the streets.
As many as 10,000 people – maybe more – are feared dead.
An estimated 9.8 million were affected by the storm, and they urgently need your help. Some are panicking as food, clean water, and medical supplies run out.
"Our teams are reporting scenes of complete devastation, with entire communities flattened, and countless families having lost everything – loved ones, their homes and their livelihoods," said CARE Philippines' Disaster Reduction Adviser, Celso Dulce. "Many parts of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar, and Eastern Samar remain cut off, and without food, water, or shelter. The need for immediate emergency supplies is critical."
By donating today to help storm survivors, here's what you'll help provide:
  • Food baskets (including rice, sugar, salt, oil, dried fish, canned meat, canned fish, beans) – $13 / basket.
  • Shelter kits (including plastic sheeting) – $32 / kit
  • Initial hygiene kits (including toothbrush, toothpaste, bath soap, towel, laundry soap, nailcutter, sanitary pads, bucket, mug) – $18 / kit
The Philippines is no stranger to storms – but the magnitude of Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms in recorded history, was simply overwhelming. With your help, we'll be there TODAY with immediate help and in the months to come as the Philippines slowly rebuilds.
