Charged with a crime for appearing on television to call for Gay Rights.
Anti-Gay Hatred Is The Law In Africa

Zambia:  The Lusaka High Court has ruled that trial will proceed in the case of gay rights activist Paul Kasonkomona who is facing a charge of "idle and disorderly conduct."

Kasonkomona, 38, was charged with "Idle and disorderly conduct by soliciting for immoral purposes." Specifically his alleged crime was giving an interview on a television program earlier this year where he called for gay rights to be respected in Zambia.

The Lusaka High Court ruled that his arrest and prosecution for what many would consider a free speech issue was not a violation of the Zambian constitution. Paul appeared on ‘The Assignment’ program April 7th on Muvi Television.
