Last week at their shareholder's meeting, CEO Howard Schultz responded to a shareholder, Tom Strobhar who criticized the company's decision to vocally support marriage equality which resulted a NOM sponsored boycott of the company. Schultz's response, was eloquent and succinct:
"The lens we use to make decisions is the lens of our people. We want to embrace diversity...If you feel, respectfully, that you can get a higher return than the 38 percent you got last year, it’s a free country. You can sell your shares of Starbucks and buy shares in another company. Thank you very much."
That took a big pair of "coffee infused" kahunas!
