J. C. Leyendecker, was a gay artist who from the early 1900s through the 1940s was America's preeminent commercial artist and illustrator. He was the idol and inspiration for the artist Norman Rockwell. During his career, Leyendecker produced 322 illustrations for the nation's most popular and widely circulated magazine, The Saturday Evening Post.
