Interestingly, a controversy has emerged concerning this photo... The Times of Israel claims that it does not depict a true couple, but was instead staged by the IDF's public relations bureau.
Staged or not, the IDF stands by the photo posted yesterday to it's Facebook page, saying it accurately depicts IDF policy supporting same gender loving members of the force.
Israel's was one of the earliest (1991) military forces to fully integrate same gender loving members and allow open service.
In any case, I think it's a wonderful photo... If it is staged, then I think that's even better, because it means that not only is the IDF accepting of it's SGL members, but it is strongly and actively promoting acceptance both within it's own ranks and to the world. Kudos, IDF!
