What I Like About This: Some of these images are of real loving couples, some are staged photographer's art and yes, some are probably from porn, but what entrances us about such scenes is that they speak directly to the most fundamental of human needs, the desire for companionship, love, intimacy, connection and passion.

"The Artist's Corner..."
"Two Old Men"
Oil on canvas
Aad Sterrebaan (Nicolaas Porter)
What I Like About This: I guess it's that I can see my own potential future in this work... It reveals the inexorable and melancholy reality of life. Which is this, if you manage to survive, old age will come and perhaps, if you're lucky, you won't experience it alone.

"We Were Always There..."
What I Like About This: Here we have a couple of happy vintage sailors in their summer whites and we're left to wonder, Are they just good friends or something more...? When I was in the Navy, even in the days before "Don't ask, Don't tell" there were always "couples" in every command. Sometimes it was more obvious than others, but as long as they were careful not to let their relationships get in the way of unit effectiveness and general morale, everyone pretty much turned a blind-eye to what amounted to their open secret. This photo seems be set somewhere in the late 1950s to early 60s which is a bit before my time, but I imagine things were just the same way then too. So yes, while they clearly show their affection for one another, they also seem careful to keep an "appropriate" gap between them at the waist, but their embrace and the looks of love on their faces tells me that yes, these two were more than just "shipmates."
"The Truth About Love..."
Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.

"Same Gender Loving People - No. 4540"
Positive images of people like me... The truth of the matter is that we all need to see people like ourselves. So everyday, I'll post a photo, drawing or some other artwork that depicts Same Gender Loving People as what we are... Only Human.
"The Artist's Corner..."
"See and Be Seen"
Oil on canvas
Pat Kelley
What I Like About This: It's funny, but what first attracted me to this work was the artist's title... "See and be seen" pretty much describes general aviation's visual flight rules. I'm a bit of an aviation enthusiast, and while this work actually has nothing to do with that, the title got me to take a closer look. As it turned out, I found this portrait quite interesting, I like the bold strokes that masterfully transition into fine details. A very appealing work indeed.

"We Were Always There..."
What I Like About This: It's unambiguous, we can see that they are a couple in love and that they bravely don't care who knows about it. A loving embrace and a passionate kiss tell us a love story from across the expanses of time.
