Arthur Laurents (July 14, 1917 – May 5, 2011) shown above on the right was an American playwright, stage director and screenwriter best known for his work on Broadway, including  – West Side Story, Gypsy, and La Cage Aux Folles.  

Tom Hatcher (August 24, 1929 – October 26, 2006) shown on the left was an aspiring actor whom Gore Vidal suggested Arthur Laurents seek out at the Beverly Hills men’s clothing store Hatcher was managing at the time. The couple remained together for 52 years until Hatcher’s death on October 26, 2006.
