I remember when this was where America shopped... I have so many vivid memories of holiday trips to our local Sears stores when I was a boy and later as a grown man. I was remembering just the other day taking my youngest son's hand to walk through the crowded lot outside of one of there stores on a Christmas shopping trip when he was just 9 and it still seemed like there'd always be a Sears.
Once upon a time, it wasn't Christmas without multiple trips to Sears. Sadly, this once proud company nearly 140 years old, the purveyors of holiday happiness and everyday needs to millions from coast to coast is likely seeing it's last Christmas this year. Surprisingly, there are still 5 of the once thousands of Sears stores still open this year. But clearly the end is nigh and I have to say that seeing it brings with it a sadness that is hard to reconcile, it's a bit like witnessing a member of the family passing away.
Thanks for the memories...
