We're Adam & Kirk...
A little about us: Kirk is originally from Wisconsin and works in Human Resources for a transportation company. Adam is from Massachusetts and works in creative development for a major theme park in Orlando. We both moved to Florida looking to start our lives after college. We met through mutual friends and have been in a committed relationship for over 12 years.
Our first date was at Epcot. We spent the day riding the rides, watching shows, and getting to know each other. At the end of the night, while we were watching the fireworks, Kirk slipped his hand into Adam’s and we both knew it was love. In that moment, our lives had changed forever.
We've been through so much together, births, deaths, pets, jobs and have always made it through because we’re there for each other. We've seen so many friends and family get married and now… it’s our turn.
We have wanted to get married for years. Sure, we could have flown to another state and tied the knot years ago, but felt we deserved to get married in the state we call home. After all, home is where the heart is and our hearts have grown together here in Florida. We were ecstatic when Florida finally cleared the way for gay marriage.
A few people told us to run to the courthouse and get married, but after waiting this long, we want to do it right and have the wedding day everyone dreams of surrounded by our family and friends. So in January, on Kirk’s Birthday, we went back to see the fireworks where it all started and just before the show, on a private boat Adam popped the question. Kirk said yes, and when the show was over we headed back to the dock to be surprised by all our friends and family supporting us. We partied the night away and now we are planning for fall 2015 wedding. Having our friends and family celebrate our wedding day with us is very important to us.
