"We Were Always There..."

I've often wondered about this photograph... Yes, Leonard is clearly in love, but who wrote the caption above this lovely image.  Was it Leonard himself in a moment of sad reflection. Or was it his mother, dad, a brother or a friend to whom in ignorant bliss he'd sent this telling photo.  We may never know, but one thing is sure, in the moment of these two young men's lives captured forever by the silver, they were in love and it was plain for all to see.
