Former Australian High Court Judge, Michael Kirby gives moving testimony to a committee studying marriage equality...

Former High Court judge Michael Kirby and his brother were both born with traits that set them apart from the mainstream.
"My brother is left-handed and I was gay," Justice Kirby told a federal parliamentary inquiry into same-sex marriage.
Michael Kirby, 73, who has been in a relationship with his partner for 43 years, says sexual orientation is part of an individual's personality, and society must come to terms with it.
But he said despite being one of the country's top minds his sexuality had meant he was always a second-class citizen.
"I rose to be one of the significant judicial citizens of this country, but I was always a second-class citizen," he said.
"It's like being left-handed," he told the federal committee meeting in Sydney today to examine a gay marriage Bill.
