"Gay PDA Is Okay!"

"Love Is Awesome...  Live Fearlessly"

"It's True, Lovers Do Start To Look Alike..."

Amongst gay couples, it's often referred to as "A Boyfriend Twin"

"While you may be familiar with the old saying, “opposites attract,” in reality, what the heart wants is someone who resembles its owner and that resemblance increases the longer two lovebirds stay together.

University of Michigan psychologist Robert Zajonc conducted an experiment to test this phenomenon. He analyzed photographs of couples taken when they were newlyweds and photographs of the same couples taken 25 years later.

The results showed that the couples had grown to look more like each other over time. And, the happier that the couple said they were, the more likely they were to have increased in their physical similarity."

Chris Habana & Richard R. Henry Prove Love Doesn’t Have To Be Difficult
What's a relationship without drama? Perhaps the best kind of all.

I met Richie on Growlr, which is like Grindr but for bigger men and the men who love them. Richie is a bigger man, and I’m a man who loves bigger men. Everything with us has been so easy. With all of the guys before him, there was always a sense of drama — the guys I was picking ranged from being a little bitchy to big assholes. I don’t know if this is an age thing, but when some people start dating, they are often prone to picking people that are mean to them or they look for some sort of friction, because they think that aggression equals fire, which means passion.

Prior to meeting Richie, I’d be like, Oh, this is just what happens. I’d never been with someone who was so nice. He definitely thinks about me. And everything was very reciprocal to the point where I wanted to do good by him. Usually when meeting nice people, guys get turned off because it’s too easy or the person’s too available. Richie was all that. He was very easy and very available.

In movies and plays, saying “I love you” is such a big, monumental moment. But I can barely remember the first time I said it because it came very naturally to us. It wasn’t like, Oh, God, I’m going to say it today. It was very easy to say, and he reciprocated very quickly. As you get older, things get a little clearer, and what you wanted when you were younger changes.

We joked about getting married because he really wanted to get on my health insurance. It was kind of a no-brainer. We did the City Hall thing in the morning, which is a very interesting process because it’s like going to the DMV, but women are wearing bridal gowns. Stupidly, we thought we could say vows to each other at the ceremony. They have a little room that looks like a nondenominational chapel with a guy standing behind the podium, and I said, “We’d love to say a few things to each other,” and he replied, “Oh, we don’t have time for that.”

"This Is A Love Story..."

"It's easy for people to lead with the fairytale version of their story, but we think it's important to be completely open and transparent about the struggles we've faced. I first met Carlos when I applied to a casting call he posted online. He's a designer/ photographer and was looking for models to participate in his upcoming fashion show. There was an instant attraction and chemistry between us, but neither of us even entertained the thought of dating until a few years later. After all, we had every possible factor working against us. Two African American homosexual men with a 15 year age gap isn't exactly the most accepted couple by society.

Furthermore, we’re both Jamaican and our culture is notoriously known for their intolerance and hatred towards homosexuality. Luckily, most of my family was accepting of Carlos and our relationship from the beginning, but the same wasn't true of Carlos' family. Carlos' mother was so against our union, she didn't even come to our wedding. Thankfully, I do have a great relationship with Carlos' mother now but it took us a long time to get here.

One of the most painful times of my and Carlos’ journey happened a few years ago when we temporarily ended our relationship. It was a time where the trust between us was broken due to poor choices and communication. It was the lowest point in our 12 year relationship. That's why our wedding day was one of the happiest moments of our lives- because the 9 years that lead up to that point wasn't easy. That day was our public statement that we 'made it.'

Our son's arrival was definitely the other happiest moment in our lives. We ultimately decided to go with private agency adoption and purposely did not place any restrictions on race, gender, etc. We only cared that our future baby would be healthy. We are well aware that our conspicuous family will come with its own set of challenges, but we are prepared to deal with them. In fact, our agency required us to take classes specifically designed to equip us with the necessary tools to face such challenges. One lesson we hope to teach our son is to be resilient. And we hope our legacy is his best example."
