"On This Date In 1955..."

On December 1st 1955 the world changed for people of color not only in the American South but throughout the world.  One simple act of defiance in the face of injustice proved to be the spark that ignited the flame that became the modern civil rights movement.  Now, nearly 60 years later... the promise of freedom for all people including GLBT people is within sight.  This morning, I'll be visiting the tomb of Mrs. Rosa Parks here in Detroit to offer my thanks for her brave stand and all that it made possible.
