"According To Their Nature..."

Although America's "4th of July" holiday is meant to be a celebration of our freedom, I can never forget that the price of that freedom has always been very dear... And for some like me, it was paid in silence.

Now that I'm home from work (yes, I work on holidays), amidst the smoke and laughter of holiday barbeques going on this evening, I'll pause to remember the many patriots who gave the full measure of their devotion to a nation that even now would still deny them their rights to "life, liberty and happiness."

My prayer on this Independence Day is that God may continue to bless America, her leaders and our president and all those who serve her in the uniform of her protectors, and that more than this, that the hearts and minds of her people might be turned to an understanding that all God's children, gay and not, black, and white, young and old are all created in the image of God and that they thereby have a right to love and be loved by the person of their choosing and according to their nature.
