A new video by Buzzfeed features gay men and women discussing the many struggles they experienced in their first same-sex relationships.
One gay couple admits that they get constantly mistaken for siblings by strangers, and another is asked by friends “who is the ‘female’ in their relationship.”
“Straight people think if you just want sex you can just go and get it,” admits a participant in the video.
Others struggled with having to keep their relationship a secret because their partner was not out, and another struggled with being mistaken as close friends instead of a couple.
