"Memorial Day 2015..."

This will be the only post today in honor of the fallen men and women who gave the fullest measure of devotion to their country...

While my husband and our children will do the things most of us will on this day (BBQ, plant flowers in our garden & celebrate the arrival of summer), we'll also pause in remembrance of the countless GLBT men and women who served their country in silence and yet were called upon to give even more than that... With their whole stories untold, they also gave their lives to give the most precious of all gifts to those left behind - freedom.  As I routinely point out to people, the price of freedom is not free, it has always been purchased with blood, sweat and tears, and eventually the greatest sacrifice, the lives of some of our brothers and sisters.
