Congratulations to David Muir, who has been selected as the successor of Diane Sawyer to anchor ABC's World News.
Muir is reportedly openly gay in his everyday life, but much like Anderson Cooper (until recently), has not publicly confirmed it during his career so far. If so, Muir will be the first gay man to reach the pinnacle position of broadcast news journalism.
While Muir is certainly entitled to his privacy, as a very public figure in a high profile position, his role model is an important one for the next generation of GLBT youth. He would be a great example for others if he confirms he is in fact a member of our community.
