"Congratulations Illinois... Equality In The Land of Lincoln!"

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation Wednesday allowing same-sex weddings starting this summer, making President Barack Obama's home state the 16th overall — and largest in the nation's heartland — to legalize gay marriage.

Nine years ago when my own midwestern state of Michigan amended it's constitution to ban marriage equality, I could have never imagined how far we'd come in such a short while... Michigan next? Probably not, but soon and very soon equality will be the law of the land across the nation... I am sure of it!

I think Lincoln would be proud today.
